The United State Postal Service is asking for your help in making their jobs a little a safer and easier.
The USPS wants you to clear the snow and ice from the front of your mailbox, as well as the sidewalks leading to your porch.
Snow and ice around the mailboxes create havoc for carriers trying to safely deliver mail.
Postal officials emphasize that maintaining a clear path to mailbox includes everything from steps to walkways and street approaches.
If your mailbox is roadside it’s also important to clear snow and other obstacles, like trash cans and other vehicles from in front of the mailbox.
The area near the mailbox should be cleared in a half-moon shape to give the carrier full visibility of the mailbox.
