UPDATE: Dogs rescued in Loogootee neglect case all find homes

LOOGOOTEE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — In January 2019, 80 dogs along with several horses and two donkeys were rescued from a woman’s residence in Loogootee.

Susan Wittmer with the Martin County Humane Society says all of the dogs have been adopted to homes, along with several of the horses.

Wittmer says the fact that the dogs were pure-bred helped them get adopted fast.

“They were pure bred Australian Shepard or they were pure bred Yorkies, so when someone sees purebred, they’re all over it, I mean we’ve still had people call us and ask if we’ve adopted out all of our Aussies,” said Wittmer.

Wittmer says she hopes people come to the shelter to see their mixed breeds as well, saying they are just as loving as pure-breds.
