TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A report of a gun at a Terre Haute middle school Thursday morning resulted in the discovery of an unloaded Airsoft gun in a student locker.
Beginning around 8:55 a.m. Thursday, Woodrow Wilson Middle School was placed on lockout for approximately 25 minutes while school officials and law enforcement investigated the situation.
In a Facebook post made by the Terre Haute Police Department it was confirmed that the student was arrested for disorderly conduct.
Bill Riley explains the Lockout and Hold in Place drills:
Vigo County School Corporation Director of Communications Bill Riley said Airsoft guns are not allowed in schools, and the student whose locker the gun was found in is meeting with school officials.
Riley said Woodrow Wilson parents and guardians were sent a message via the School Messenger text app. If you did not receive this message, and your child attends Woodrow Wilson, you can call the school to make sure your number is correct in the system.
The school has resumed normal business.
