United Way of the Wabash Valley hosts info session for volunteers

This afternoon, United Way of the Wabash Valley held a recruiting event at the Vigo County Library for its impact councils.
There are four councils being recruited, including financial stability, graduation, health, and neighborhoods. The role of these councils is to help determine how the United Way invests resources in the community.
Abby Desboro, with the organization, says that community volunteers are very crucial.

“We’re all volunteer based driven and so having volunteers, as many as possible, is really key. We want to have the community’s voice in how we’re going to invest, we don’t want it to come from top-down,” said Abby Desboro, communications director for the United Way.

Desboro says there will be more events like this one in surrounding counties in the near future.
