TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Union Hospital showed off its newest piece of groundbreaking technology tonight called the Da Vinci XI Surgical Platform.
This piece of technology is a robot that provides minimally invasive surgeries, such as inguinal hernias.
A hernia is a defect in the abdomnial wall that allows fat or internal organs to stick out of the abdomen.
The less invasive option for surgery reduces pain in the recovery process and patients don’t have to take a much medicine, after surgery.
Board certified general surgeon, Brandon Lynch M.D., said “Its an incredible opportunity to have this level of technology available here to really help patients and decrease their pain after surgery.”
