Two individuals are behind bars after reports of shots fired in Montezuma on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, March 1st, 2017 around 8:30 PM, the Montezuma Police Department and Parke County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a shots fired complaint in the area of CR 40 N and Arabia Rd.
Officers located shell casings in the area where the shooting was reported.
After further investigation at several locations, it was determined that John Smith (19) of Montezuma had fired a handgun from the vehicle. John was arested and formally charged with Criminal Recklessness with a deadly weapon, a level 6 felony; Possession of a firearm without a permit, a Class A Misdemeanor; and Intimidation; a Class A Misdemeanor.
John was given a $10,000 cash only bond.
During this investigation it was learned that the firearm belonged to Jimmy Griffin Jr (18) of Rosedale. Jimmy was arrested and formally charged with possession of a firearm without a permit, a Class A Misdemeanor. Jimmy was transported to the Parke County Jail and given a $5,000 bond with 10% acceptable.
