Two Florida men are behind bars in an Indiana jail cell, this after a routine vehicle inspection turned into a massive drug bust.
It happened at around 7:30 Wednesday morning, near mile marker 41 on Interstate 70 in Putnam County.
That’s when Indiana State Police pulled over a semi for routine inspection.
The drivers, 33-year-old Jorge Blanco-Diaz of Miami, Florida and 44-year-old Adan Delacruz of Cutler Bay, Florida, say they were hauling a load of fresh lettuce from Colorado to Florida.
Upon further investigation troopers found not only lettuce.. but also 260 pounds of hydroponic marijuana concealed within the lettuce.
Narcotics investigators say the street value of an amount this size, is an estimated $1,000,000.
Both men were arrested and are currently being held in the Putnam County Jail.
They each face felony charges of dealing marijuana.
