Turning Back The Pages

Get out those birthday hats! A birthday bash unlike any other dropped by the Indiana Theatre, Sunday.

More than 400 hundred people gathered to celebrate Terre Haute’s 200th birthday! Along with some cake, folks could be immersed in living history as many enjoyed a play that flipped through many defining moments in Terre Haute’s history. Organizers say it’s the best way they can honor a city that’s given them so much.

“It’s just bringing it alive, it makes it more exciting and more important and for me there’s a real emotional attachment to it,” says Sherri Wright the Director of the play “200 Years On The Banks Of The Wabash.”

“We have touched the world from this little place in the middle of the United States so I think it’s a wonderful opportunity for people to know about their heritage and be proud of the place where we live,” says Marylee Hagan the Executive Director of Vigo County Historical Society.

If you missed out on the festivities, and want to learn more about Terre Haute, or donate to the new Vigo County History Center. Just call 812-235-9717 or www.vchsmuseum.org for more details.
