A Putnam County woman is behind bars tonight, after a routine traffic stop turned into a drug bust.

Just after 6:00 PM Monday evening, Indiana State Police pulled over a vehicle traveling on US 40 near State Road 75, for failure to signal a turn and expired registration.

During the traffic stop, a K-9 officer gave a positive indication that there were illegal drugs in the car. This led to a full search of the vehicle.

Troopers were able to find five grams of meth, drug paraphernalia, and several cell phone devices scattered about the car.

They arrested the driver, 32-year-old Laura K. Nicholas of Cloverdale, IN. She faces several charges including possession of meth, driving with out a license, and numerous other traffic violations.

She remains in the Putnam County Jail.
