Three people are behind bars after a traffic stop over the weekend.
It happened Sunday evening on State Road 63 at Boulton Road.
The Vermillion County Sheriff’s Office says continued surveillance of reported narcotic areas and mutli-departmental work with the Clinton Police Department led to a traffic stop of a 2004 Gold Ford Taurus.
Authorities followed the vehicle across the county line into Vigo County.
With the assistance of Vigo County and West Terre Haute Officers, authorities arrested three people and removed an infant child. The child was released to the Indiana Department of Child and Family Services.
The driver of the vehicle, 35-year-old Laura Lockwood of Brazil, was arrested on charges of Maintaining a Common Nuisance and Neglect of a Dependent.
22-year-old Ashlee Akers was arrested on charges of Possession of Meth, Possession of Paraphernalia, Illegal Possession of a Syringe, Possession of a Legend Drug, Possession of a Synthetic or Look-a-like Drug and Maintaining a Common Nuisance.
A third person, 26-year-old Robert Grider of Terre Haute, faces a charge of Visiting a Common Nuisance.
All three people were transported to the Vigo County Jail.
