A burglary suspect is behind bars after a traffic stop in Farmersburg.
Thursday afternoon, the Farmersburg Town Marshal stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation near Sawmill Road.
After a brief conversation, the driver was identified as Virgil Wilson, 37, of Farmersburg. Police say at the time, Wilson was a person of interest in an earlier Sullivan County burglary.
Police say the Marshal became concerned and conducted a routine pat down of Wilson. Police say a struggle ensued and Wilson displayed a .45 semi-automatic pistol.
No shots were fired.
Police say Wilson claimed he only pulled the handgun out to discard it. Officers later determined the gun was stolen in a previous burglary.
Wilson was arrested on charges of Burglary, Theft, Receiving Stolen Property, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Possession of Methamphetamine.
