TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Indiana drivers will now have the opportunity to save money on outstanding balances, but it won’t last for long.
In July, the Traffic Amnesty Program took effect.
It allows drivers to either take care of unpaid tickets or get their driver’s license re-instated at half the cost.
However, a petition must be filed through the court in order to be considered.
There are also some restrictions in the program.
If you owe child support, restitution, or have an outstanding warrant, you cannot participate.
The program began on New Year’s Eve and will last until the end of 2020.
It only applies to violations that happened before January 1, 2019.
