VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Update: After a delay to the start of the project INDOT has announced that the closure will begin Monday, May 23. With an expected completion date of June 23.

ORIGINAL: INDOT has announced that a part of State Route 159 will close starting May 1.

The location of the closure is about 20 miles southeast of Terre Haute, just south of the Brown Jug Corner where E. French Drive intersects with SR 159 and is about 1.5 miles north of Lewis.

The closure will allow crews to replace aging drainage structures under the road. Work is expected to last for the entire month with a reopening set for early June.

INDOT’s official detour is for drivers to take SR 246 to US 41 to SR 641 to SR 46. E & B Paving LLC will be performing the installation as part of a $2.2 million project, which includes similar work on other state roads throughout the summer.
