A tractor accident led to two arrests on Friday evening.

Vermillion County Sheriff’s Department say a Deputy found a tractor overturned in a ditch just north of Highway 36 on State Road 71 in Dana just before midnight.

Investigators found the tractor had been stolen from Mid-Ag, and while waiting for a tow truck, a white Dodge pickup truck showed up to the scene.

Officials say the truck had been stolen earlier from Marshall, Indiana. The driver, 21-year-old Austin Freund of Marshall, admitted to stealing the truck from his boss. He was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle and taken to Vermillion County Jail.

While working the crash scene, Deputies were then alerted that a man was attempting to steal a dirt bike from a residence in Dana.

This led to the arrest of 30-year-old Joshua Nickels of Dana.

Nickels was arrested on a Parke County warrant and transported to the Parke County Jail for booking.
