As the school year comes to an end for students here in the Wabash Valley. It’s nice to reflect on all they have accomplished.
Today’s event honored those teens who put academics first.
“It feels pretty good, it’s a lot of hard work paying off right now,” said Robinson High School Valedictorian, Slater Martin.
For Slater Martin and 92 other students from around the Wabash Valley, Tuesday afternoon was dedicated to honoring their excellence.
“It feels really nice to be recognized,” said Martin.
Slater is among ten valedictorians from Robinson High School. His Principal, Troy Hickey, says it’s not just the work in the class room that helps these kids excel. Hickey also credits the parents.
“First of all they all come from good families, they are very grounded and also participate in a lot of extra curricular activities for us, and I have always said that academics plus curricular equals success, and when we look at our ten today they certainly fill the mold of that category,” Robinson High School Principal, Troy Hickey.
They certainly have. Slater not only hit the books, but was on the track and field team, and a member of the math team.
“You have to study a lot put in some late nights, and you have to pay attention,” said Martin.
