UPDATE: Police say suspect in hostage situation is now in custody

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – A man is in custody after what police described as a hostage situation in Terre Haute Sunday.

Police responded to the scene around 1 p.m. in the 1200 block of S. Center Street.

Terre Haute Police say the situation started as a domestic dispute.

Police identified the suspect as Terryon Golliday. Police say Golliday had two large calibur weapons and was holding a female against her will.

After police officers assessed the situation, they called in the police department’s Special Response Team and negotiations began.

After several hours, police say Golliday released the female and surrendered.

He was taken into custody without incident. Golliday faces charges of criminal confinement with a deadly weapon and intimidation with a deadly weapon.
