Third annual Buddy Walk raises over 35,000 dollars

Today people in gathered together to celebrate those with down syndrome.

The third annual Buddy Walk was held at Hulman Memorial Stadium where 35 teams registered for the one mile walk.

“We just wanna reach out to our community and just provide more awareness about down syndrome which obviously always leads to acceptance,” said Dixie Russell of Down Syndrome Indiana’s Terre Haute chapter. “So it’s just really cool to see the community come together for our families and our kids.”

So far the Buddy Walk has raised over 35,000 dollars and due to it’s success Down Syndrome Indiana Terre Haute will be hosting a summer camp that will teach people with disabilities how to ride a two wheel bike.
