Terre Haute woman charged with having infant in vehicle while intoxicated

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – A Terre Haute woman was charged with driving while intoxicated with a newborn child in the vehicle Wednesday night.

Indiana State police stopped Emili R. Garner, 20, Terre Haute, for unsafe lane movement around 7:15 p.m. Wednesday near US Highway 40 and Hunt Road. She was accused of being under the influence of a controlled substance, according to ISP.

A newborn infant was in the vehicle, police said.

Vigo County Department of Child Services was called and the infant was released to a relative.

Garner was being held in Vigo County jail.

She was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a passenger less than 18 years of age and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
