TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – A local business is celebrating its 150th anniversary.
Terre Haute Savings Bank is celebrating a century and a half milestone in business.
The bank started all the way back in 1869 just after the end of the Civil War.
Bart Colwell, the president of the bank, says it’s due to an appreciation for the customers, the employees and the community.
He hopes the bank continues to operate for another 150 years to come.
“We just want to give credit to all of our employees. They actually make Terre Haute Savings Bank what it is. There was a foundation laid by those who began the bank and then each successive generation has built upon that foundation. It’s our time now and soon enough, there will be those who will follow us and hopefully can build on what we’ve been able to build,” says Colwell.
The bank got the celebration started last week with a week of giving. Each day, the bank donated $1,000 to a different local organization.
