Terre Haute Police Department collects unwanted prescriptions on Drug Take-Back Day

It’s National Drug Take Back Day, and today Terre Haute Police Department with the help of Drug Free Vigo County and Chances and Services for Youth spent the day collecting unwanted prescriptions.

Drivers were able to pull up to a tent set up in the Meadow’s Shopping Center parking lot and drop off their unwanted prescriptions.

Officers sorted the medications and prepared them for proper disposal.

“It’s a win win for everyone,” said Detective Sgt. Denzil Lewis of THPD. “People get to clean out their medicine cabinets and we get to keep it out of the landfills, out of the water and away from our streets.”

There are several locations around Vigo County where you can drop off prescription medications.

These locations include the mall, Baesler’s Market, THPD, and the Vigo County Sheriff’s Department.
