Terre Haute P.D. Honors Fallen Officers

News

The Terre Haute community gathered Wednesday afternoon to honor fallen officers.

The Terre Haute Police Department held its annual Fallen Officers Ceremony outside the police station.

Terre Haute’s police chief read the names of each of the department’s 12 fallen officers and the city’s mayor gave a speech.

While today’s ceremony was about honoring the sacrifice and service of those fallen officers, Chief John Plasse says the danger continues daily for those officers who still protect and serve.

” The lack of respect to law enforcement we’ve recently seen is troubling.  And, although we’re blessed to live in the great community that we do, there are still people here that wish to do us harm,” says John Plasse, Terre Haute police chief.

On Thursday, the police department’s Honor Guard will head to Washington D.C. to attend memorial services there, which is something they do each year.
