TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – A man is behind bars following a Terre Haute homicide investigation.
Nathan Epple is facing charges of murder and robbery resulting in serious bodily injury in connection to a Sept. 27 incident.
According to court documents, Jeffrey Cottrell reported to Terre Haute police that he had caught an unknown male in the bedroom of his residence, 126 N. 14th Street.
Cottrell said the suspect, later identified as Epple, was holding his aluminum baseball bat. Epple then allegedly struck Cottrell over the head with the baseball bat before fleeing the scene.
Jeffrey told police that his cellphone, baseball bat, five knives and other items were stolen during the robbery.
Cottrell was transported to Union Hospital where he died two days later as a result of his injuries.
Epple is being held at the Vigo County Jail without bond.
