Terre Haute Humane Society prepares for kitten season

News

This afternoon, the Terre Haute Humane Society hosted a kitten shower.

Community members were asked to bring in donations such as litter and blankets to help the staff at the Humane Society properly care for kittens they receive.

Jonathan Ellinger, with the Humane Society, says most female cats are in heat during the spring.

With an influx of cats having kittens, staff at animal shelters like the one in Terre Haute see an increase of these animals coming through their doors.

“Supplies like food, litter boxes, all of that, we don’t really have the budget to go out and buy ourselves, so donations really help with taking care of all of that,” Ellinger said.

Ellinger says if you missed today’s event the Humane Society is always accepting donations.

Any supplies or monetary donations can brought directly to the Terre Haute Humane Society.
