A ribbon cutting ceremony and blessing will be conducted to mark the opening of a larger warehouse for the Terre Haute Catholic Charities Foodbank.
The event will be held at 5 p.m. Monday at the new location of 430 N 14th½ St. in Terre Haute.
According to representatives from the organization, the current warehouse allows them to provide approximately 2.5 million meals each year, but that does not meet the needs in the community.
A $1.5 million basic needs campaign entitled, “Closing the Meal Gap” was launched to provide a new facility to significantly increase capacity for food storage, refrigeration and food distribution.
Additional funds will be used to establish an endowment to help ensure the sustainability of the operation.
