Arson has been ruled as the cause of a Tuesday afternoon fire in Terre Haute.
At around 2:21 p.m. Tuesday, firefighters responded to the blaze at 1532 Locust Street.
When crews arrived, flames were showing on the backside of the house. When firefighters kicked in the door, two dogs ran to safety. A third dog perished as a result of the fire.
According to Assistant Chief, Bureau of Fire Prevention Norm Loudermilk, the fire appeared to have started in the rear of the house, and investigators believe the fire was intentional.
“Our investigation revealed the fire was a result of someone starting it,” Loudermilk said.
