The Terre Haute Fire Department unveiled a monument engraved with the names of 13 fallen heroes this afternoon.
The monument stone sits next to the Terre Haute Police Department monument at the Veteran’s Memorial Park at Memorial Stadium.
With this memorial, loved ones are able to visit and pay tribute to their heroes.
Fire Chief Jeff Fisher says the monument is a tribute to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for the safety of their community.
“If you don’t honor them, they become forgotten,” he said. “And we never want that. Someone that has given so much for their community and for their department, to give their life needs to be remembered always.”
A service will be held tomorrow afternoon at two pm at the Police and Fire Museum to pay tribute to the fallen heroes.
