Terre Haute is yet another step closer to having a casino.
The Indiana Gaming Commission approved the transfer of two gaming licenses from Majestic Holdco, LLC to Spectacle Gaming, LLC.
The vote was unanimous.
The two casinos, the Majestic Star Casino and Majestic Star II are currently located in Buffington Harbor in Gary.
If approved by legislation, Spectacle plans to move one casino to another Gary location, freeing up real estate in the harbor to be used as an intermodal hub, port and logistic center. The second casion would be brought to Terre Haute.
Spectacle Chairman and CEO Rod Ratcliff and Vice Chairman Greg Gibson expressed their excitement about the approval and the future of gaming in Indiana.
“We’re very grateful to the Commission for its leadership,” Ratcliff said. “Our plans for the Majestic Star I and II have always been dependent on a collaborative effort with the city and state government, and this decision allows us to continue to work cooperatively to strengthen Indiana’s economy. This repurposing of existing state gaming license will provide job growth and increased tax revenues.”
