TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – With special deals and menu items for some local establishments, food lovers and deal seekers can look forward to new food and cheaper prices at the 6th annual “Taste of Terre Haute.”
The event will kick off on July 18 and last through the 31st. This event highlights the variety of restaurants and establishments in West Central Indiana and showcases their food and style.
“For foodies, this is kind of a great way to test out different restaurants but we really encourage people to be a tourist in their own town,” Katie Shane, director of membership development and communications said. “Maybe go to a restaurant that you’ve never been to before or try out an old favorite. It’s a real fun way to get to experience different restaurants in our area.”
Saratoga Bar and Cafe has been part of the taste every year since it beginning in 2016 and will be bringing back an item they say many visitors love but isn’t offered year around.
“Sometimes I don’t think Terre Haute realizes what they have in the local restaurants so it’s our opportunity to show off some special things,” Alexis Green, manager of Saratoga said. “We are able to show off some favorites.”
Ethan Page, co-owner of Bar_Botics in downtown Terre Haute says he excited to not only participate for the first time, but provide local options for residents.
“Whether it’s Bar_Botics, whether it’s another restaurant or a bar or something else like that,” Page said. “Taste Terre Haute is really cool because it allows to give a chance, like give everybody a chance and see what your experience is going to be there out there deals.
Shane says establishments participating in the taste see it as not only a chance to bring new items and deals but bring people to the area in general.
“Heard from a lot of restaurants over the years,” Shane said. “They push every year wanting it to come back and we obviously want to do it. It’s a fun way to get people in the door but now more than ever, the restaurants really need this.”
