Some local high school students got a sobering reminder today about the dangers of impaired driving, because safety matters.
The entire student body at Sullivan High turned out for this mock crash demonstration. Spearheaded by the JAG organization, that’s Jobs for America’s Graduates.
This is an annual event for the Sullivan teens. It’s a graphic illustration of what can happen when a young driver is distracted or impaired.
“No texting and driving, no drinking and driving. If we can save one life we feel like we’ve done our job.”
“It kinda brings a sense of realness and a sense of severity to the fact that this is an issue that happens every day to several people.”
That young man is correct according to the Centers for Disease Control every day in the US, six teenagers die from motor vehicle injuries.
