Sullivan County Humane Society celebrates 10-year anniversary

SULLIVAN, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Sullivan County Humane Society celebrated 10 years in operation Saturday.

Volunteers with the shelter say they are always looking for donations of cleaning supplies and toys for the animals there.

The SCHS building continues to house plenty of loving animals looking for a permanent home, and volunteers say those numbers are continuing to grow.

“We have grown tremendously, our building hasn’t gotten much bigger, but we do handle a lot more animals, we get them adopted out pretty quickly for the most part and we’ve seen just thousands of animals just in the last couple years,” said Myra Vandevender.

SCHS is one of seven local participating shelters in WTWO’s Clear the Shelters event Saturday. They are selling cats and kittens for just $10 during the event.
