Local high school students put their auto skills to the test on Thursday.
Students from six area high schools and two education centers took part in an auto skills competition at Ivy Tech.
Scholarships to Ivy Tech were awarded to the competition winners.
The event also included workshops, giving students a chance to learn about career opportunities in the automotive industry, as well as programs offered at Ivy Tech.
“To show them that there is education after high school and to focus on career-technical education and also to get them more interested in the field. We need technicians in the Valley, so it’s pretty important,” says diesel technology instructor Michael Mauntel.
More than 200 students took part in the competition.
