An author is celebrated today for his birthday and as a part of national Read Across America day.

We stopped by Dixie Bee Elementary school who had elementary education students from Ivy Tech reading Dr. Suess.

It’s been a week full of fun celebrating the author for the grade schools but today focuses on important partnerships in the community.

“I think it’s a really neat opportunity to show boys and girls how fun reading can be. The Dr. Suess books are great for first graders, we’ve had a really fun week dressing up and doing different theme days for Dr. Suess,” Doborah Myers, first grade teacher at Dixie Bee said.

The book read today was ‘What Pet Can I Get’ after the read students built pet robots using STEM skills. Today’s event also benefits Ivy Tech students as a part of their field experience in the classroom.
