Start the Thanksgiving Holiday off with a trot

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — If you want to work up an appetite for that big Thanksgiving meal while helping to feed those in need, why not try the Turkey Trot 5K and one mile fun run?

The Turkey Trot was started by Crossroads Events six years ago, and Union Hospital has since come on board as a sponsor.

Thursday’s race will begin at 9 a.m. in downtown Terre Haute. The course will start and end near the Hulman Center.

To receive $5 off the cost of registration, bring five cans food to donate.

“This is just something Crossroads has created to give back to the whole community to give back around the holidays as well,” said Ethan Page of Crossroads Events.

This year, all food collected and a portion of the money will to the First Baptist North Food Pantry.

In the past six years, over 15,000 pounds of food has been donated as a result of the Turkey Trot.
