Stand Off in Farmersburg

News

A stand-off in Farmersburg came to a peaceful end on Monday morning.

Multiple police agencies, including a special response unit, were called to a home around 5:30 A.M., located at 200 East near Main Street for a domestic dispute.

Police say a man barricaded himself inside his home with a shotgun after an argument with his estranged girlfriend.

Police were able to negotiate with the man and he came outside about three hours later.

No arrests were made.

“His safety and his welfare has been our primary concern for the last two to three hours. Although you might have seen a lot of law enforcement here and a lot of law enforcement equipment, that’s based on his safety and his concern,” says Sullivan County Sheriff Clark Cottom.
