TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Churches are continuing to step up and help others as the need for food is growing amid the pandemic.

St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Terre Haute gave out grab-and-go meal bags Saturday morning.

The grab-and-go bags came with breakfast and lunch sandwiches, along with some non-perishable food.

The church receives donations from local businesses and community organizations such as Chick-fil-A and Catholic Charities.

Linda Gorrell, a Secular Franciscan at St. Benedict’s said their mission is to be there for those in need.

“Our responsibility is to care for others and that’s what we try to do is make sure that the rest of the community is cared for. We’re very blessed to have what we have and so we’re trying to share that with others,” Gorrell said.

St. Ben’s said they feed around 60 people a day.
