South Hall of Distinction inductees recognized

Every year Terre Haute South recognizes alumni who are doing amazing things with their careers. 

Three new people were inducted this year. They are:

LTC Kristen N. Dahle (class of 1994) Kristen has an exemplary record of education and service with the US Army. Currently stationed in Philadelphia, she is the US Army Corps of Engineers Philadelphia District’s 59th Commander. She has earned numerous medals in her career, including the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, and the Army Accommodation Medal. She has been deployed four times since 2003 to the Middle East.

Mark Braught (1972-1973 Alumnus)- Mark has over thirty-five years experience as an award winning designer/illustrator with extensive management, marketing, and teaching experience in the field of art.

He owns and operates Mark Braught Studios in Atlanta, Georgia. He has taught at the Atlanta College of Art and Design, University of Georgia-Athens, Creative Circus, Portfolio Center, and Hollins University. He is a gifted illustrator of children’s books and was nominated for the Caldecott Award. In addition to his other achievements, Mark created the artwork for the merchandising of Warner Brothers’ Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.

Dennis McDavid (class of 1982) Dennis is a nationally recognized leader in Public Education. He currently serves as the Superintendent of the Berkley School District in Oak Park, Michigan. He was one of four recipients nationally of the (2018) Kennedy Center/Stephen Sondheim Inspirational Teacher Award. Dennis has touched so many lives through his teaching career and, now as a superintendent, he continues to demonstrate unique qualities that emerged when he was a South Brave.
