Tis the season for giving and those charitable gifts kicked off with Giving Tuesday.
Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College was one of many local organizations taking part in the national effort.
For Woods Giving Day, faculty, staff, alumni and students made solicitation and thank you calls.
College President Dottie King also made calls.
Officials say the most important thing is showing donors how much the college appreciates them.
“They are allowing their legacy to live on through the students and the students get an awesome education. They make lifelong friends and they really come and get a solid education, and they know that’s made possible by the donors,” says Mikayla Thomas, Assistant Director of Advancement and Alumni Relations.
Last year, SMWC raised $123,518 in 24 hours.
