Locals had the opportunity to tour some of the Valley’s most historic buildings today as the Sisters of Providence offered their Spring Architectural Tour.
The tour was part of the campus’ ‘Sunday At The Woods’ event series.
Attendees had the chance to learn more about Woodland Inn and Corbe House, both of which are now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Western Regional Office for Indiana Landmarks Director Tommy Kleckner facilitated the tour. He focused on the classical and Renaissance styles of architecture found at St. Mary-Of-The-Woods.
“We always encourage people to start to really look closely at the historical buildings and structures around them. They are tangible links to our past, they are these beautiful almost sculptures in our landscape and streetscape. St Mary-Of-The-Woods campus is even more unusual in that it is such a wonderfully designed space, both the landscape and the buildings,” said Kleckner.
There was no cost for attending today’s tour, but donations were warmly welcomed.
