A local assisted living facility educated veterans Tuesday about a little-known benefit.
Silver Birch of Terre Haute hosted a workshop about the VA Aid and Attendance Benefit.
It opens up dollars for veterans, their spouses and surviving spouses that helps them afford assisted living care.
To be eligible, a person must have served one day of active duty during a wartime era and at least 90 days of consecutive active duty service.
“It’s just a benefit that often goes unused. Many people, if they don’t know about it, they’re not able to take advantage of that benefit. It’s just something that can bridge the gap financially in order for someone to be able to afford the care of an assisted living community,” says Josh Thome, the Marketing Director of Silver Birch Terre Haute.
If you are interested, but missed Tuesday’s workshop, you can call Silver Birch at 812-237-0123. They can help you schedule an appointment to talk about this benefit.
