A 7 year old boy was transported to Regional Hospital for non life threatening injuries this afternoon after his bicycle collided with a van.
It happened near Farrington and 18th Streets in Terre Haute. Indiana State Police and Terre Haute fire rescue units responded to the scene. A preliminary investigation found the child allegedly applied his brakes, but a possible brake malfunction caused his bicycle to collide with the van. It was driven by 60-year-old Mary Kidwell of Terre Haute.
Upon impact, the child was thrown from the bike. He was not wearing a helmet at the time. His parents are with him at the hospital.
