Serious violent felon receives prison sentence

News

VIGO CO., Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The Vigo County Prosecutor’s Office released a statement Wednesday regarding the prison sentence for Tristan Green, 39, of Terre Haute.

Green was arrested in May 2018 after driving while suspended and the tail lights on his vehicle were out.

Upon search of the vehicle, police found a stolen handgun in Green’s possession. Green admitted to being a serious violent felon in possession of a stolen handgun. Green faced previous charges of conspiracy to commit dealing in Methamphetamine.

Green was sentenced by judge Michael Lewis Wednesday to serve four years in prison and four years probation to follow.

Vigo County Prosecutor Terry Modesitt released a statement in relation to the sentence.

Regardless of whether a gun is being actively used for criminal activity or, like in this case, is merely in the possession of the felon, we pursue prison time in each of these cases.”
