PARIS, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — Friday, Illinois high school seniors walked the Paris High School hallways one last time before taking the stage for the 147th annual commencement.
Student speakers who took to the podium during the ceremony admit it was a rough year, but seniors we talked to say they are looking forward to what’s next.
Families cheered from the stands in support of those graduating.
Payton Block, the class president of 2021, and Mark Cox, principal of Paris High School said they are glad everyone can come together in person.
“It”s pretty good, kinda sad. Because you know I don’t know when I’m going to see a bunch of people again. But it feels good,” Block said. “Very exciting and I’m very proud of everything we’ve been through this year and that we can graduate together.”
“I’d like to put out a great big thank you to all out board members, teachers, and staff that made this possible to keep our building open and our kids safe,” Cox said. “Without all of them, none of this would of been possible this year.”
Congratulations to the class of 2021!
