A semi driver denied knowing his vehicle struck another vehicle while traveling through Parke County.

At approximately 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, David Leohr, 41, of Brazil, was driving his 2016 Jeep Cherokee northbound on S.R. 59. As he entered a sharp curve, just south of the Montgomery County line, his vehicle was struck by a semi truck/trailer that crossed the center line, according to the Parke County Sheriff’s Department.

Leohr was not inured. The driver of the semi did not stop after the accident.

At around 2 p.m., Parke County deputies located the semi on U.S. 41 in Rockville. The driver, Carlos Apolaya, 49, of Indianapolis, denied any knowledge of the accident. His semi and trailer were photographed by authorities who noted minor damage to the rear driver’s side of the trailer.

A case report was sent to the Parke County Prosecutor’s Office for review and to decide on any potential criminal charges.
