Scammers Posing as Non-Profit To Steal Your Money

News

Millions of dollars are raised to fight breast cancer.

But in the Hoosier state, crooks are hitting a new low to get a piece of that money.

It’s happening in Evansville, where the Better Business Bureau is receiving lots of reports.

They say scammers are calling folks and posing as  the Indiana Breast Cancer Awareness Trust.

BBB officials say it’s bad that they’re posing as a “non-profit.”

But, their tactics take the deception to a lower level that’s even more disturbing.

“They will start making you feel bad about it and if you still say no they will start belittling you, making you feel worse, telling you you’re a heartless person  , that you need to give to the cause and so on,” says Oana Schneider with Tri-State Better Business Bureau.

The Indiana Breast Cancer Awareness Trust says it will never call or solicit donations outside the sale of their license plates.

So, if you receive one of these calls, report it to your local Better Business Bureau.
