Salvation Army Receives Silver Coins

The Salvation Army of Terre Haute says someone has been blessing them with some very special coins.

The organization has received six Silver Walking Liberty Coins.

They haven’t been officially appraised yet, but Salvation Army officials estimate they’re worth about $20 to $30 a piece.

They have a simple message for whoever is donating the silver coins.

“Simply thank you,” says Captain Jason Schaal, “everything makes a difference and you, along with the many other people that make up our community, are making a difference and making an impact right here at home in Vigo County.”

The Salvation Army of Terre Haute has raised about $78,000 so far in this year’s Red Kettle Campaign.

That’s about 31% of their $250,000 goal, but the organization is faithful they’ll reach the mark.

You can donate at any red kettle in front of stores in the area, by mailing a donation to the Salvation Army’s office in Terre Haute or by texting “THKettle” to 41444.

They’re also always in need of volunteers to ring bells. If you’re interested, call 812-232-4081 or visit
