VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College has been recognized by US News and World Report as one of the nation’s best colleges.
This is the 17th time in a row the college has been recongized.
The private college has even moved up in rank from it’s former tier in Best Regional Colleges, to Best Regional Universities in the Midwest.
The ranks are created by the “Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education”
The tier focuses on a college’s retention rate, graduation rate, financial resources and student excellence.
SMWC now boasts a 95% job placement for students.
President Dottie King has high hopes that this recognition will bring in future students.
“This publication is well noted among parents and prospective students,” she explained. “So they’ll know that if they’re considering us it’s a good choice.”
