A local woman is being recognized for her leadership and volunteerism in the community.

The Rotary Club of Terre Haute presented its Five Avenues of Service Award to Jane Nichols, the Executive Director of the Vigo County Education Foundation.

Under her leadership, the foundation has given a record $249,000 in grants and other academic support this year to teachers in the Vigo County School Corporation.

She also volunteers with a number of local programs, including 100+ Women Who Care, Camp Navigate and Rotary Reads.

“I am grateful and surprised, and humbled to be recognized. Truly I am among such wonderful people, so I’m just very grateful and honored,” says Nichols.

The Five Avenues of Service Award represents the Rotary Club’s priorities: community, vocational, youth, club and international.
