Riley Casey’s gives lottery bonus back to community

The Riley community hit the jackpot thanks to a lottery ticket purchased at an area gas station.

A $1.5 million winning lottery ticket was purchased at the Riley Casey’s General Store back in February.

Monday, they received a check from the Indiana lottery for selling the ticket. And Casey’s gave the money back to the community.

Riley Recreation League, The Riley Fire Department and Riley Elementary School each received $5,000.

“It’s very exciting that we get to give back to the community because they give us so much support,” said Heather Kelsheimer, Casey’s Indiana area supervisor. “So, we’re all very excited to be able to put that money back to good use, because we love doing donations, we love giving back to the families and the kids in our community.”

According to Hoosier Lottery executive director Sarah Taylor, bonus money is sometimes used to reward employees or make improvements to a store, but it is always extra special when it is given back to the community.
