The city of Sullivan is taking charge in revitalizing their town.
Efforts for beautification along with street projects mostly center around the downtown square.
The city applied for a Downtown Revitalization Grant for half a million dollars, that would allow the city to continue their efforts.
Mayor Clint Lamb would like to start a trail project throughout the town that will get residents out and walking.
This fall, Flaherty and Collins property will add 20 new apartments to downtown. Thirteen on the south side of the square and seven at the old City Hall building.
“We’re truly trying to create an area of downtown, not just four sides of a square but a true downtown district, you’re starting to see the private sector respond,” Sullivan mayor Clint Lamb said.
It will be June 1st when the city knows if they receive the half a million dollar grant. Flaherty and Collins will invest $8 million in the Sullivan apartment project, which is expected to be complete in late 2018.
