Resisting Law Enforcement Arrest

Terre Haute, IN - A motorist who allegedly fled from a trooper is now facing a long list of charges.

An Indiana State Police Trooper tried to pull over a pickup truck overnight for speeding on 25th Street, near 8th Avenue.

The driver pulled over near Maple Avenue, but as the trooper was exiting his patrol car, the driver allegedly sped away.

Police say the driver led the trooper down a dirt lane. Due to the amount of dust kicked up by the vehicles, the trooper lost sight of the suspect's truck.

Terre Haute Police Officers later found the truck abandoned near 29th and Collette Streets.

Further investigation led police to find the driver, 27-year-old Steven Powers of Terre Haute, on Barbour Avenue.

He was arrested on charges of Resisting Law Enforcement, Criminal Recklessness, Reckless Driving, Driving while Suspended and Criminal Mischief.
